October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, as such, is a great for all Angelenos to get involved. Lots of activities honor this cause throughout the month in the City of Angeles, so get ready to take part by running, by walking, by cheering on participants, by going shopping and/or by attending a lecture to help spread the word. Walk with the Los Angeles chapter of the American Cancer Society to held raise awareness as well as funds for this esteemed charity on Oct. 17. Check in to take part is at 7am, with the event officially starting at 8am at L.A. Live in the heart of downtown. Participants will gather in Microsoft Square prior to this meaningful three-mile march designed to help fund lifesaving research regarding breast cancer and to bring this cause to the forefront. Meanwhile, a coffee truck courtesy of Gavina Coffee will be on hand serving everyone who has gathered at LA. Live in the early morning hours get a hit of caffeine as they are sent on their way, while a survivors tent will be set up at the start of the walk inside with information and a special gifts waiting for those who have suffered or who are fighting breast cancer.

This gathering of all kinds of women on October 8th is all about breast cancer, including a discussion on everything from thought-provoking statistics to new reconstruction techniques. Many physicians will be on hand starting at 6pm, with Dr. Farin Amersi talking about breast cancer on a global scale, Dr. Catherine Dang speaking about breast cancer in younger females, and Dr. Elizabeth Kim addressing the reconstruction journey in terms of plastic surgery for breast cancer survivors.

Survivors and supporters of this massive cause will gather round at the Santa Monica Pier starting line on Oct. 24 starting at 10 a.m. for a power walk on the beach to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This "celebration of survivorship," lets everyone help raise funds for the cause that affects so many Angelenos. Prior to and after the walk at the tent circle, musical performances will take place, as will special shopping and snacking opportunities. In addition, the American Cancer Society will provide all kinds of literature on the subject at hand.

October will end, but the fight against breast cancer never stops, as evidenced by this main event held the month after the official month for awareness. Slated for Nov. 20 at 6pm, when a reception designed for brides and their friends and families will be held, and Nov. 21 from 10am to 3pm, when the actual sale of magnificent name brand and designer bridal gowns will take place. These new and lightly used dress confections will be greatly discounted, all the while giving an important cause the spotlight through a group that gives funding to help assist programs designed to help cancer patients and their loving caretakers in their time of need.
