Baldwin Park Man Arrested After Passenger Is Killed In Crash

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A Baldwin Park man was arrested on charges of felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter after a Friday night crash that killed a passenger in his car, West Covina police said Saturday.

Felipe Lamas-Spino, 27, lost control of the 2012 Honda when he was speeding in the 2700 block of Hillside Drive, West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez told City News Service, causing the vehicle to hit a curb and a tree and then overturn.

A passenger in the back seat, whose name has not been released, was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported by a resident at 10:45 p.m. Friday, Lopez said. A passenger in the front seas was uninjured.

Lamas-Spino was being held at the West Covina Police Department's jail on $100,000 bail, police said.
