Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, a 2010 Chevy Malibu ended up about 100 feet off the freeway down a ditch, just west of the southbound 5 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol.

Upon their arrival, officers pronounced Rosa Silva Torres, of Salinas, dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver lost control of the vehicle as no skid marks were visible in the area.
