Authorities Identify 4 Victims Killed In Blythe Bus Crash
BLYTHE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday released the names of four people killed earlier this week in a tour bus accident on Interstate 10 near the California-Arizona border.
Jessica Garcia, 30, of Chula Vista; Luz Rivera, 44, of Compton; Angel Hernandez, 49, of Hacienda Heights; and Pablo Ramirez, 67, of Pico Rivera were killed early Wednesday morning in Blythe.
The accident happened when a big rig, driven by Victor Esteban Galvan, jackknifed in the eastbound lanes and spilled its load of metal pipes across the freeway.
The bus, operated by El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express, was carrying 32 people when it hit the pipes, rolled 40 to 50 feet off the roadway, down an embankment and landed on its side.
Nearly three dozen people were also hurt in the crash, with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
