Kanye West Sentenced To 2 Years Probation In 2013 Paparazzo Attack At LAX
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Rapper Kanye West was sentenced to two years probation Monday in connection with a 2013 attack on a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport.
He previously pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft, but pleaded no contest to the battery charge through his attorney, Blair Berk.
West, who was not required to be in court for the hearing, was ordered to perform 250 hours of community service and undergo 30 days of anger management counseling. He was also sentenced to one day in jail, but is expected to be booked and immediately released.
The run-in happened in July 2013 after the rap star, who is engaged to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, arrived at the Bradley International Terminal.
West's attorney says the rapper was only trying to prevent a photographer, Daniel Ramos, from taking his picture.
Ramos has also filed a civil lawsuit against West.
