Anonymous Tip Leads To ATF Bust Of More Than 1,000 Rifles, Firearms At Holmby Hills Home

HOLMBY HILLS (CBSLA) - Police and federal agents converged Wednesday on a home in the upscale Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles and seized more than 1,000 guns after an anonymous tip.

Law enforcement officers served a warrant about 4 a.m. at the home in the 100 block of North Beverly Glen Boulevard near Sunset Boulevard, according to LAPD Officer Jeff Lee.

Girard Damien Saenz, 56, was arrested on suspicion of possessing, selling and manufacturing assault weapons, according to the LAPD.

Saenz was placed into a car and transported by authorities to an unidentified location.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Los Angeles confirmed a "joint investigation with LAPD" was ongoing.

Police told CBSLA more than roughly 1,000 firearms were recovered at the scene.

Thousands of rounds of ammo were also found at the home, according to CBSLA's Tom Wait.

Authorities were tipped off about a suspect who was manufacturing and selling illegal firearms, Lee said.

A large number of the guns, including rifles and other long guns, were being gathered on the driveway of the home.

ATF spokeswoman Ginger Colbrun said authorities "have no reason to believe the public is in any danger."
