Armed Suspect Reportedly Holed Up Inside Gift Store In Little Tokyo

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   An armed suspect is reportedly holed up inside a gift store in Little Tokyo.

The incident is playing out in the Japanese Village Plaza, near South Central Avenue, authorities said.

Customers and employees have all been evacuated safely, according to police.

The plaza had to be cleared when a man allegedly grabbed a ceremonial sword in the store and began making threatening gestures.

Police said the man got into a fight with someone at the gift shop. This was reported to authorities just after 6 p.m. Sunday.

As of 10 p.m., the man was still holed up.
