App Of The Week: Spring Cleaning
It's spring! Which means... time to do that spring cleaning!
If you're anything like me, you have a lot to get rid of, but there are a few things you KNOW you can sell for a few extra bucks! Luckily for you, there are a ton of apps that let you list an item in just a couple of steps so you can sit back and let the offers roll in!
For everything from a couch to an old guitar to a house – check out Five Miles. The app works similar to how you'd list something on eBay... just type in a description of what you're selling, take a few photos with your phone and publish. You'll get notifications when people have questions or make offers.
You can easily post your items to Facebook to let your friends know what you're selling and buying items is super simple as well. Search for specific items or by location. The only drawback with this – these are face to face transactions, meaning, once you make the deal, you need to agree on a place to meet up and trade the product for the cash.
Specifically created for selling women's clothing and accessories, Poshmark is one of your best bets - especially for designer labels. The app has a large community of sellers, and buyers specifically looking for this stuff.
Like Five Miles, just snap a few pictures in the app, then add a description and price. But that's where the similarities end. When someone makes a purchase from you, Poshmark will send you a prepaid label, already addressed to the buyer. Just pack it up, drop it in the mail and get paid.
On the buying side, search for specific brands or categories and the cool thing is with this app is, Poshmark guarantees the product and will refund your money if the item is fake, not as described or doesn't ever show up.
Poshmark keeps part of the sale as commission – If the sale is over $15, they take 20%
Another app that is really gaining popularity is Tradesy. Created for buying and selling of higher end clothing and accessories, it works essentially the same way as Poshmark, except fees with this app are significantly less – between 9 and 11.9%.
