Angels Acquire Yunel Escobar From Nationals In Exchange For Trevor Gott

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired infielder Yunel Escobar from the Washington Nationals in exchange for relief pitcher Trevor Gott.

Gott himself took to Twitter to thank the Angels for all that they have done for his career.

Escobar hit .314 in his only season with the Nationals last year, collecting 9 home runs and 56 RBI as well.

The 33-year old can play both third and second base.

The Angels are parting ways with a talented young reliever who in his first major league season, put up an impressive 3.03 ERA in 47.2 innings pitched for the Halos last year.

The Angels recently acquired Andrelton Simmons in a trade with the Braves, and will be showcasing an entirely revamped infield when the 2016 season begins.

The Nationals also received prospect RHP Michael Brady from the Angels as well.
