2 Anaheim Students Arrested In Campus Bomb, Shooting Plot
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) – Two male students at Savanna High School in Anaheim were arrested Thursday on allegations they threatened to place bombs around their campus and commit shootings, police said.
Anaheim police said the suspects, both juniors, posted threats of their plan on social media, which came to the attention of school officials, who in turn contacted authorities Thursday morning.
The suspects were arrested before the start of school. They were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall on charges of making criminal threats.
"Arrests were made shortly after the threats were made, so we really lucked out," said Pat Karlak with the Anaheim Union High School District.
While searches of the teens' homes turned up no weapons or explosives, investigators did find a detailed plan for the alleged plot, along with maps of the campus. Police said nothing was found to indicate the boys had the means to carry out the threatened attacks.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that other students may have been "peripherally involved" or at least aware of the boys' plans, but police said the primary suspects are in custody.
Meanwhile, the school's graduation ceremony took place Thursday night at Glover Stadium.
The suspects were not identified because they are juveniles.
