1-Year-Old Boy Sought In Paso Robles Amber Alert Found Safe In Lost Hills, Suspects In Custody
CALABASAS (CBSLA) — An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday afternoon for a 1-year-old boy who was last seen with his mother near Paso Robles.
The 1-year-old boy, Namaste Dix, was last seen with his mother, Rashawna Bullock, 23, on July 10 and approximately 9:15 a.m. at Barney Schwartz Park in Paso Robles.
Dix is a ward of the court and was with a social worker for a supervised visit with Bullock.
At some point during the visit, Bullock pulled a knife on the social worker and fled toward her 50-year-old mother Serbina Bullock who was waiting nearby in the dark grey 2012 with the license plate number 6XKD235.
The social worker quickly called the police to alert them that Bullock had fled with the child.
Paso Robles Police Department issued the alert for San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Alameda Counties.
The Jeep was later found in a parking lot in Calabasas near the Lost Hills exit after a vigilant young man who spotted the vehicle matching the description.
The young man said Bullock, her mother, and the child exited the car and entered and Uber waiting nearby.
That's when he decided to go up to the Uber driver to stop them from leaving.
"We stopped the Uber and then we asked her to roll her window down and we explained the story and she agreed that it was not a good idea to drive," the man told CBSLA's Dave Lopez. "Then the woman that had taken the baby ran."
Bullock took the baby in her arms and ran across the parking lot where deputies in a squad car were able to locate her and take the child safely.
Dix could be seen from SKY2 uninjured and in the care of deputies. He was later transported to a hospital as a precaution.
He will later be returned to child services.
Both Bullock and her mother were taken into custody.
Paso Robles PD posted the following after the child was found, "Thanks to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who saw our Amber Alert and located the suspect vehicle with Bullock and Namaste Dix inside."
They were said to be sending people to LA for an ongoing investigation.
