Authorities arrested the adoptive parents of a boy in Moreno Valley on suspicion of murder, torture and child abuse last week.

On Thursday at around 6:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 13000 block of Malibu Court after learning of a juvenile in need of medical aid, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The juvenile, a 10-year-old boy, was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics after deputies arrived and found him in medical distress, the statement said.

During their preliminary investigation, deputies reported finding "signs of possible neglect and abuse." As they continued their investigation, the boy's health began to decline. He was declared dead several hours after his arrival at the hospital.

The boy's adoptive parents, identified as 51-year-old Alejandra Marin and 59-year-old Juan Sanchez Moreno, were both arrested on suspicion of murder, torture and child abuse before being booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center, deputies said.

As their investigation continues, detectives ask anyone who has more information to contact them at (951) 955-2777.
