Actress Rita Wilson Has Double Mastectomy, Report Says
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actress Rita Wilson has undergone a double mastectomy, it was reported Tuesday.
The 58-year-old Wilson told PEOPLE magazine the first round of testing didn't reveal breast cancer but the second round of tests, as well as a second opinion did.
Wilson, who is married to actor Tom Hanks, also told the publication:
"I hope this will encourage others to get a second opinion and to trust their instincts if something doesn't 'feel' right."
She further stated: "Early diagnosis is key."
Wilson also revealed via Facebook that she's doing well and getting stronger every day.
After learning of Wilson's double mastectomy, celebrities tweeted messages of support:
