7-Year-Old Girl Critical After Being Hit By Pickup Truck In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A 7-year-old girl is in critical condition Sunday after being hit by a pickup truck in Pomona.

Authorities said that the victim and her older sister were crossing Grand Avenue, just east of San Antonio Avenue, about 6:45 p.m. when a dark-colored sedan stopped and yielded for them.

A Ford F150 driver, traveling behind the sedan, apparently decided to go around the car and struck the child.

Police said the driver of the pickup -- a 52-year-old woman -- is unlicensed. She is cooperating with authorities.

Officials said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The victim suffered head and chest injuries.

The driver of the sedan left the scene before he or she could be interviewed by police.

Pomona Police are encouraging the sedan driver or any other witnesses to come forward. Contact the Pomona Police Department at (909) 620-2081.
