7-Eleven Clerk Stabbed During Apparent Robbery In Rancho Cucamonga
RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of a convenience store clerk in Rancho Cucamonga.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Randy Naquin says deputies were called to the 9400 block of Baseline Road about 5:34 a.m. Sunday regarding a stabbing.
When they arrived, they found the clerk, 45-year-old Tansel Kucukseyhan, who had sustained injuries described as "major."
Kucukseyhan was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition but was in an intensive care unit. A store employee told CBS2's Greg Mills that the clerk had undergone surgery.
Naquin said the incident appeared to be a robbery. However, authorities have not disclosed what items were taken, if any.
Mills spoke to a frequent customer of the 7-Eleven, Cedric Moore, who said he was there about 10 minutes before the incident.
"He's a nice guy, so he was probably the victim of a random attack, just a random attack," Moore said. "Because this area is really nice."
Rancho Cucamonga police said in a written statement that two suspects, described as Latino men in their 20s, were suspected in the stabbing.
The first was 5-foot-6 with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes.
The second suspect also had a thin build and was 5-foot-8. He was seen wearing a black hat, white tank top, black pants, and a green backpack. Police also said he was riding a bicycle with a front tire with a white wall.
Anyone with information regarding about this case was asked to call Rancho Cucamonga police at (909) 477-2800.
