6 detained, no injuries after shooting at Northridge mall
Police rushed to the Northridge Fashion Center after gunfire rang out at the mall Friday night.
The shooting happened at about 6:00 p.m. at the mall off Tampa Avenue. Officers detained six people at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. In a tweet, LAPD believed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between several juveniles.
"It's sad," shopper Nicole Cefali said. "How did these kids get guns? It's very upsetting."
Cefali was at the mall with her son and his friend when police started swarming the mall.
"When we turned there were about three or four people, young-looking," Cefali said. "I thought maybe 13 or 14 years of age, in handcuffs."
The bullets shattered the window of H20 Sushi. The restaurant has been closed for the night.
Investigators said no one was injured at the scene. They are checking hospitals to see if doctors are treating anyone with a gunshot wound.
