Fiery Wrong-Way Crash Kills 2 In Buena Park

BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed in wrong-way crash on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway that has shut down several lanes.

The fiery crash happened at 3:21 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway at Magnolia Avenue, when a car driving north at about 100 mph in the southbound lanes crashed into an SUV that burst into flames.

The collision left debris in all lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of both vehicles were killed. The driver of the SUV was identified as a man in his 50s, while CHP officials said the wrong-way driver was a man in his 20s.

Only the carpool lane was available just north of the Riverside (91) Freeway for several hours. A SigAlert for five lanes of the freeway was canceled after 7:30 a.m.
