5 Cargo Containers Fall Into Water At Port Of LA

SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com/AP)Authorities say nobody was hurt when five stacked cargo containers fell from a ship into the water at the Port of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says fireboats were called to assist late Tuesday morning. Port police are also on the scene.

Humphrey says the accident happened at Berth 402, which is operated by APM Terminals.

Television news showed the containers still connected as they floated alongside a huge cargo ship. One of the containers was smashed in.

APM did not immediately return a call seeking information.
