43-year-old woman dies after crash with school bus in Lancaster

A woman is dead after she crashed into a school bus in Lancaster on Friday. 

The crash happened at around 7 a.m. in the 1700 block of Columbia Way, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

Circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear, but the victim, since identified as 43-year-old Melisa Van Hoorne, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. She died from multiple blunt-force injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. 

Deputies say that the school bus was unoccupied other than the driver, who was not injured. 

It was the second deadly crash involving a school bus in Los Angeles County on Friday, after a woman riding a bicycle was killed in Lakewood in a similar incident.
