43-year-old man shot and killed in Hemet

A 43-year-old man was shot and killed in downtown Hemet on Saturday and investigators are still searching for the suspect. 

It happened at around 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of W. Florida Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department. 

Officers arrived to the scene after receiving multiple calls reporting gunshots in the area, where they found the victim, 43-year-old James Bailey, suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

As their investigation continues, detectives have not yet released information on a suspect or motive in the incident.
