3 People Wounded, Suspect Killed, In Shooting At Lancaster Restaurant
LANCASTER (CBSLA) – Two men and a woman were wounded, and a suspect was killed, in a shooting and possible hostage situation at a restaurant in Lancaster early Monday morning.
Security guards trying to intervene in an altercation may have led to the shooting that was first reported at 12:12 a.m. at Culichi Town Lancaster in the 42100 block of Sierra Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The 911 caller told authorities there was a person inside the restaurant who had shot at security guards and was possibly still inside.
When deputies arrived, they found a 44-year-old security guard in front of the restaurant, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He told the deputies that the gunman was still inside and another employee had also suffered a gunshot wound.
Deputies tried to talk to the suspect, but when he didn't respond, LASD's Special Enforcement Bureau was called out to the location. They were able to make contact with a woman who was still inside before they made entry, authorities said.
When deputies got inside the restaurant, they found the 51-year-old gunman suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to the sheriff's department. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name was not released.
A 43-year-old woman with a gunshot wound was rescued from the restaurant. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated fro a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower extremity, authorities said.
The security guard, who is in serious condition, and the second employee, who suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound, were also taken to the hospital.
