SB 5 Fwy Reopened In East LA After Big Rig Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — All lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway were reopened Wednesday after a crash involving an overturned big rig in East Los Angeles.

Two vehicles and the truck were involved in the accident that occurred just before 2 a.m. on the freeway south of Grande Vista Avenue, officials said.

The truck went through the center divider causing the closure of all lanes of the freeway.

The northbound side was reopened at 3 a.m. Several southbound lanes were open until around 5:45 a.m. when they were re-closed so crews could work to remove the truck.

All lanes were opened by 7:35 a.m.

One person suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a trauma center.

It was unclear what caused the collision.
