3.5-magnitude earthquake was felt as a "strong jolt" in Pasadena

3.5-magnitude earthquake rattles South Pasadena

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 has struck the San Gabriel Valley, the U.S. Geological Survey has reported.

The USGS says the quake struck Sunday morning with its epicenter in Pasadena. It was felt about 2.3 miles north-northeast of South Pasadena and 2.4 miles east-northeast of Alhambra.

The quake was felt in Los Feliz, Long Beach, Anaheim, San Bernardino, and even as far as San Diego, among other areas.

"It was a strong jolt that was felt in Pasadena," said Lisa Derderian with the City of Pasadena. "Many people are reporting it on Neighborhood apps. Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries or damage."

Derderian advised the public to be prepared for possible aftershocks.

"Mother Nature is reminding us to be prepared. We can't be complacent. Kids are home from school. Today is Sunday, a good day to make sure you have your disaster kits updated, food for the family and your pets, ways to charge your electronic devices other than plugging it into the wall for electricity, but this could be the precursor or we need to be prepared for aftershocks for the days coming," she said.

No damage or injuries have been reported.
