Foul Play Feared In Disappearance Of 22-Year-Old Woman In San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Officials are asking for the public's help finding a 22-year-old woman, reported missing in San Bernardino.

Sahray Astina Barber was last seen leaving for work around 6 a.m. Monday from her home in the 1500 block of West Northpark Boulevard, across the street from the Cal State San Bernardino campus, the San Bernardino Police Department reported.

Barber is a graphic design student at the Art Institute of California - Inland Empire. She was headed to her job at the school's library.

Detectives told CBS2/KCAL9's Tom Wait they've found a number of her belongings, including a laptop, thrown into the bushes around her apartment complex.

Her disappearance is especially alarming given that there were three attacks on women at the CSUSB campus last week. Those attacks included an attempted rape and an attempted abduction.

"We are concerned, because those things have happened in a very close proximity here," San Bernardino Police Lt. Rich Lawhead said.

The mood on campus has been heavy since news of Barber's disappearance broke.

"Class was super quiet after that and not really the joking and fun going around," student David Flores said. "That's understandable when something like this happens."

Barber's boyfriend and her friends have been questioned, and detectives say they're cooperating with the investigation.

"Sahray, if you're listening to us right now, we love you," Barber's father, Stephen, said. "We can't wait to have you back in our arms."

Barber's father also noted that it is unlike her to go off on her own.

She's described as 5-foot-8-inches tall and 125 pounds. She has long red/brown, straight hair and green eyes, and she was wearing a blue shirt at the time of her disappearance. She works in the school's library.

Anyone with information on Barber's whereabouts is urged to contact the Det. Dan Han at (909) 384-5623 or the San Bernardino Police Department Investigations Bureau at (909) 384-5615. Please be sure to reference case number 2015-26028.
