$20k reward offered for information on Lynwood woman's killer

A $20,000 reward has been offered for information that will help investigators locate a person of interest in the deadly shooting of a Lynwood woman in September

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to the 12500 block of Oak Street at around 5:40 a.m. on Sept. 15 after learning of shots fired in the area, said a statement at the time.

They arrived and found the victim, 40-year-old Irene Gonzales suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body, deputies said. Further investigation revealed that she had likely been shot hours earlier near 1:55 a.m., according to the statement.

"Video evidence revealed that the suspect vehicle, a black 2014-2018 Toyota Corolla with four doors and a sunroof, was traveling along Long Beach Boulevard before turning west on Euclid Avenue and then heading on Oak Street, where it stopped mid-block," LASD's statement said.

Gonzalez exited the car and was shot moments later, deputies said. She collapsed on the sidewalk where she was later found dead.

Investigators have not yet revealed a motive or the relationship between Gonzalez and the suspect.

A $20,000 reward has been offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for any information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

"She left two kids behind," said Gladys Rodriguez, a friend of Gonzalez's. "Somebody cruel just took her away from them."

Anyone who may know more is asked to contact LASD's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
