2 Small Quakes Shake Southeast Corner Of Salton Sea

NILAND, Calif. (AP) — A magnitude-4.1 earthquake shook an area near the Salton Sea but there have been no reports of damages or injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck about 6 miles southwest of the town of Niland at about 9:51 p.m. Tuesday. It was followed by a magnitude-3.4 quake in the same area 9 minutes later.

A dispatcher with the Imperial County Sheriff's department said there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The Salton Sea is near the U.S.-Mexico border.
