3 Men Shot By Downey Auto Shop Owner In Botched Robbery

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Police say two men were killed and another wounded during an apparent robbery attempt by the owner of a car audio shop in Downey.

The shooting was reported at about 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 8800 block of Rosecrans Avenue, where officers found two men fatally wounded inside First Class Car Audio, 8856 Rosecrans Ave., Downey police officials said.

Detectives say three armed men went into the business in attempt to rob the owner, who shot all three. Two of them died at the scene.

A third man was being treated for gunshot wounds at a hospital, where he is being questioned by detectives.

Police have not identified the men who were killed.

Public records named Jorge Valencia as the owner of First Class Car Audio. He is also the registered owner of one of the cars that was towed from the scene.

Valencia was not injured in Monday night's gun battle, but neighbors say his business is familiar to local police. According to the Downey Patriot, Valencia was arrested in a 2009 raid at the business, where guns, marijuana, and explosive devices were seized.

Police won't comment on the case.
