CBS News Los Angeles

Two people were injured following a crash and possible shooting on the 215 Freeway in Riverside early Saturday morning.

The crash was reported just before 2 a.m. on southbound lanes of the freeway near the University Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers say that a witness called to report the crash, as well as three to six gunshots.

While it remains unclear exactly how many cars were involved in the crash, officers listed one grey sedan with rear-end damage. One of the occupants had a bloody sweatshirt, CHP logs said.

Officers did not immediately confirm what led up to the crash and if a shooting occurred.

All southbound lanes were closed at Blaine Street for the length of the investigation, which lasted until around 6 a.m.

No further information was provided.
