Intruder Shot, Security Guard Stabbed In Confrontation At Malibu Home

MALIBU (CBSLA) — One person was shot in the head and another stabbed in the face Friday in an apparent struggle between a security guard and an intruder at a private home in an exclusive area of Malibu.

Paramedics responded shortly after 11 a.m. to a report of one person shot and another stabbed in the face near Encinal Canyon Road and Puesta del Sol, according to a Los Angeles County Fire spokeperson.

The home was recently occupied by supermodel Miranda Kerr. She moved out about a month ago, authorities said.

A shirtless man apparently jumped over a wall of the private compound and was confronted by a security guard, witnesses told reporters. A struggle ensued when the man refused to leave.

The intruder - who was possibly homeless and carrying a knife - was shot, while the security guard stabbed in the face or eye, according to witnesses at the scene.

The guard was believed to have been conscious and talking to investigators at the scene when they arrived. Both the guard and the intruder were transported, officials said.

It wasn't immediately determined who owned the compound, which apparently includes several rental properties.
