$2.6 M Powerball Ticket Sold In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Someone in Los Angeles woke up $2.6 million richer Sunday.

The lucky resident purchased a Powerball ticket at a West LA Vons supermarket (4030 Centinela Avenue) that matched five of the six winning numbers in Saturday's draw and won $2,663,348.

The ticket was sold via a lottery kiosk machine.

The winning ticket matched 13, 22, 23, 29 and 31. The ticket holder failed to match the Powerball number (17) or could have won half of the $50 million jackpot. A ticket with all six numbers was purchased in Puerto Rico.

Powerball is played in 43 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Draws for the $2 game are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Powerball starts at $40 million and climbs every time there is no winner. The record jackpot reached $590 million in May 2013.
