2.5 Magnitude Quake Reported Near Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A micro-quake rattled Orange County on Sunday.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the 2.5 magnitude quake hit at 8:24 a.m., more than four miles west southwest of Newport Beach and more than six miles south of Huntington Beach.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of about one mile.

It was felt in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and Long Beach, according to responses posted to the USGS website.
