17-Year-Old Arrested In Bomb Threat Against Chino High School
CHINO (CBSLA.com) — A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday for making a false bomb threat against a Chino school, police said.
A threat was made against Chino High School around 6 a.m. via social media, police said.
"Officers immediately coordinated efforts with campus personnel and the Chino Valley Unified School district to place the school on lockdown while searches of the campus were made," Chino police spokesperson Monica Gutierrez said.
After nearly three hours of searching, the campus was deemed safe and no devices were found.
"The two primary individuals who communicated the threats were identified, contacted by investigators and one was subsequently arrested for making Criminal Threats," Gutierrez said.
The teen was booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Detention Center.
The age of the second suspect was not released. It was unclear if either suspect was a student at Chino High School.
Officials said Monday's incident was the third threat of school violence this year. The Chino Police Department was working with the District Attorney to seek cost recovery for the time and resources dedicated to the incident.
