131 Confirmed Measles Cases In California
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Health officials say there have been 131 confirmed cases of measles since December with most of them linked to an outbreak that originated at Disneyland.
The California Department of Public Health said Monday three of the cases were not considered part of the same outbreak.
The total is just one more than the figure the state reported on Friday.
Most of those infected were not vaccinated against measles, a highly contagious illness marked by fever, cough and a telltale rash.
Measles cases linked to Disneyland have also been confirmed in half a dozen states, Mexico and Canada.
The virus has been eliminated in the U.S., but it has emerged in recent years by travelers who are infected overseas.
