12-Inch Water Main Bursts In Holmby Hills
HOLMBY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Crews are on the scene of a water main break that has caused street damage and closed a portion of the area.
According to the Department of Water and Power, Sunset Boulevard between Charing Cross and Mapleton remained closed Sunday night, but work was anticipated to be completed by early Monday morning.
Officials said a 12-inch pipe-line burst just before 5 p.m. in the 10200 block of West Sunset Boulevard at Charing Cross.
Sky2 reported from overhead that traffic appears to be moving smoothly in both directions.
At this time, about 20 customers are without water, officials said.
This is the third water main break on Sunset Boulevard in the past two months. The biggest incident, in late July near UCLA, led to flooding of two parking garages and Pauley Pavilion, while crews are still cleaning up from Friday's water main break on the Sunset Strip.
