Woman Killed In Crash On 101 Freeway In Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA) — A woman was killed Thursday morning in a crash on the westbound 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills.

The crash was first reported before 5 a.m. near the De Soto Avenue exit.

CHP investigators say a woman driving a 2019 Toyota 86 coupe was approaching De Soto when she lost control of her car in a middle lane for unknown reasons. She ultimately hit the center divider, and her car ended up blocking two left lanes. The CHP says she got out and stood outside her car in the left lane.

Rufino Batres Moran was in his Nissan pickup truck in the lane second to the left just south of the crash and tried to avoid colliding with the woman and her car but was unable to, according to the CHP. The front end of Moran's pickup hit both the Toyota and the woman, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP's report said.

The woman, who the CHP says was 26, has not yet been identified.

A Sigalert was issued for three left lanes until at least 9 a.m.
