1 Killed In Crash On Kanan Dume Road In Malibu

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say one person was killed Tuesday night in a traffic collision in the city of Malibu.

The California Highway Patrol says a vehicle slammed head-on into an Edison electric truck around 3:54 p.m. on Kanan Dume Road, which is about 1 mile north of the Pacific Coast Highway.

The driver of the vehicle, described only as a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hours after the crash, deputies continued to search the area for victims.

While the cause of the crash remained under investigation, authorities said rain may have been a factor.

"It is very slippery. I just want to remind drivers that speed and loss of traction can equal or can contribute to a car accident," said Sgt. Matthew Dunn of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

For a third day, the wet weather and muddy conditions continued to pose a threat to drivers on the PCH, bringing traffic Tuesday evening to a standstill. For traffic conditions, listen to
