1 Dead In San Bernardino Gas Station Shooting
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Officials in San Bernardino said one man was fatally shot Saturday morning at a gas station.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at the Valero gas station located at the intersection of 40th St. and Kendall Drive just before 1:40 a.m.
While enroute a second caller advised that there was a shooting victim at a residence in the 400 block of W. 48th Street. The caller said that victim would require transport to the hospital.
It was later learned that the shooting victim from 48th St. was shot at the Valero. He was taken to the fire station at 40th and Electric before being transferred to St. Bernadine's Hospital. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital at approximately 2:30 in the morning.
The investigation revealed that the victim, Mark Anthony Garcia, 27, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Esteban Abarca, 22.
The two men stopped at the Valero to get gas. While there, Garcia exchanged words with two black male adults who were parked next to a nearby gas pump. As the victims drove out of the gas station, one of the suspects fired several shots at the victims and their vehicle.
Investigators are seeking the public's assistance.
