1 dead after fiery single-car crash on 60 Freeway in East LA

One person was killed in a fiery, single-car crash on the 60 Freeway in East Los Angeles early Saturday morning. 

The crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. in eastbound lanes of the road near S. Indiana Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

They say that a white sedan slammed into a center divider and burst into flames, sparking a small grass fire. 

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames before they could spread. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not yet been identified. 

Due to the ongoing investigation, multiple lanes were closed until a little before 6:40 a.m. They have since reopened, police said.
