1 dead, 4 injured after multi-car crash in Sun Valley
One person was killed and four others injured during a four-car crash in Sun Valley on Sunday.
Circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear, but officers were dispatched to the scene, located in the 13200 block of W. Roscoe Boulevard, at around 8:55 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The force of the impact caused one of the victims to be ejected from their vehicle. That person, only identified as a 45-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to LAPD.
The four other victims suffered minor injuries, police said.
Investigators say that the man was driving westbound on Roscoe Boulevard when he collided with another car driving int he same direction. The collision pushed the second car into oncoming lanes of traffic, where it again struck another car and flipped over.
At the same time, the man's vehicle veered off the road, slamming into a parked car and a light pole before it also overturned and he was ejected.
Both of the cars overturned cars remained at the scene of the crash as investigators worked late Sunday, visible with SkyCal overhead. One of the two cars appeared to suffer severe damage as it was surrounded with debris. The second vehicle could be seen hundreds of yards down the road from the heavily damaged car.
The crash happened just miles from the spot of a different fatal crash that happened in Sun Valley the night prior, killing a 15-year-old father-to-be who was walking just feet from his mother's home.
