1 Dead, 2 Injured In Hawthorne Car-To-Car Shooting

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — One man was killed and two other people injured in a car-to-car shooting Sunday morning at Rosecrans Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in Hawthorne, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The two who were injured were transported to a hospital in unknown condition, investigators said.

The victims were returning from a church function, police said, at about 2:15 a.m.

According to witnesses, a dark colored sedan that was travelling east on Rosecrans Avenue pulled up alongside the victim's vehicle. At least one of the occupants produced a firearm and opened fire.

Bullets from a shotgun and an Uzi struck a gray vehicle, which later crashed into a nearby pillar.

No other information was immediately available.
