Young Man And Woman Found Shot To Death In Detroit Apartment

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating after two people were found shot to death Monday morning on the city's east side.

The bodies of a 26-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were discovered by a friend in an apartment on Cadieux, south of Warren, near Cadieux Cafe.

The male victim was identified by family members as Matthew Cuffie, son of local Pastor Robert Cuffie, who spoke with WWJ Newsradio

950's Laura Bonnell at the scene.

"All we know is, at this point, that (he's) a young man who didn't deserve to die ... didn't deserve this heinous brutality of man against mankind," Robert Cuffie.

"He was a young man we loved, and something good has to happen," the pastor said. "He's a young man we know was trained in the righteousness of God; and we pray that something positive or powerful will come from this."

A police chaplain was at the scene, along with investigators, praying with the family.

According to police, the friend made the shocking discovery while checking on the pair after trying to get a hold of them all weekend.

Robert Cuffie said the female victim was a friend of his son. Her name was not immediately released.
