Woman Killed After Crossing Into Oncoming Traffic On Michigan Avenue

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are trying to figure out why a woman killed in a crash on Michigan Avenue drove into oncoming traffic.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday on Michigan Avenue near Lima Center Road in Washtenaw County's Bridgewater Township.

Police say the 26-year-old Gloria Young, of Clinton, was driving a 1997 Honda Accord when she crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2016 KIA Sportage, driven by a 49-year-old Adrian man.

Young was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was transported to University of Michigan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to police, and speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Lenawee County Sheriff's Office and Huron Valley Ambulance.
