Woman Ejected From Car, Dies In Northern Michigan Crash

CLAM LAKE TOWNSHIP (AP) — Authorities say a 24-year-old woman has been killed after being ejected from a speeding car that collided with a semitrailer in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.

Michigan State Police said the car the woman was riding in was traveling southeast on M-115 in Wexford County's Clam Lake Township early Saturday when it passed another vehicle, lost control and hit the oncoming truck. The rear part of the car where the Caledonia woman was reportedly sleeping was sheared off in the collision.

Police say the driver fled but was later arrested, and alcohol, drugs or both are believed to be factors in the crash. The driver was treated for minor injuries, and the driver and passenger of the semi weren't hurt.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
