Woman Dies After Crashing Into Church
CLAWSON (WWJ) - Authorities say a woman was killed after she apparently lost control of her vehicle and drove into an Oakland County church.
The accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Friday at the Clawson United Methodist Church on Main Street, just north of 14 Mile Road in Clawson.
Reports say the woman was driving north on Main Street "at a high rate of speed" when she crossed Broadacre Street, jumped a curb and struck a vehicle in the parking lot before smashing into the side of the church.
When emergency responders arrived on the scene, the woman was unconscious. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The woman's name has not yet been released.
Police say the accident remains under investigation. The woman's cause of death was not immediately clear. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine if the woman might have suffered a medical episode before the crash.
