Wind Blamed For Crash Of Small Plane In U.P.
FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities blame high winds for the crash of a single-engine plane as it tried to take off from Sawyer International Airport in the central Upper Peninsula. The pilot escaped injury.
TV stations WLUC and WBUP say the Cessna flipped about 3:30 p.m. Monday. The airport is in Marquette County's Forsyth Township, about 15 miles south of Marquette.
The crash temporarily halted air traffic at the airport. The plain sustained significant damage.
An investigation is continuing.
