Will Discontent Among Millennials Translate At The Polls?

DETROIT (WWJ) - Young voters are unhappy with the way things are run in Washington D.C. but will that discord translate at the polls on Tuesday?

A poll of millennials released Wednesday by Harvard shows a racial divide when it comes to President Obama's approval rating.

John Della Volpe ran the poll and he explains the numbers.

"The percentage of young white Americans who support President Obama - who give him an approval rating is only 31 percent, African Americans 78 percent and Hispanics for the first time are below 50 percent in our survey ... just a couple of months ago they were at 60 percent today they are at 49 percent," said Volpe.

That might not translate to a boost in the 2016 Presidential election for the GOP - with only 23 percent of millennials approving of the job Republicans are doing in Congress.

In the latest Mitchell/Fox 2 poll Governor Snyder shows roughly 20 percent support in Detroit, higher than he's ever been. Gubernatorial challenger Mark Schauer comes in at strong 75 percent. With the president coming in on Saturday, Schauer expects those numbers to come up higher.
