Wayne County Lightfest Open Through End Of Year

WESTLAND (WWJ) - Metro Detroiters have until the end of the year to enjoy the sparkling Wayne County Lightfest -- the largest and longest drive-through holiday light show in the Midwest.

Lightfest features more than 47 giant animated holiday themed displays, illuminating the night with over one million environmentally beneficial LED lights.

Lightfest is open Monday through Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. through December 31. However, Lighfest is closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Visitors enter Lightfest at Hines Drive and Merriman Road in Westland and exit onto Warren Avenue near Telegraph Road in Dearborn Heights. There is a $5 fee per vehicle. Hines Drive closes to traffic at 6:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday and at 5:00 p.m. Friday – Sunday.

Visitors can enter Lightfest at 7651 Merriman Road in Westland, and there is a fee of $5 per car.

December 8 and 15 are Toy Nights. On these three nights, visitors can bring a new, unwrapped toy in lieu of the $5 vehicle fee.

When you've reached the end of the Lightfest drive, don't forget to stop for a visit to Santa's Workshop, at Warrendale Park. Santa will be there until Dec. 23. Children can bring their wish lists for Santa and drop them off in the giant mailbox, where Santa's elves will pick up the letters each night.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Although Lightfest begins at 7 p.m., Hines Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 5:45 p.m. nightly.
