Warren Man Held On $1 Million Bond In Connection With Wife's Disappearance
WARREN (WWJ) - An additional charge was filed Thursday against a 46-year-old Warren man in connection with the month-long disappearance of his wife — who may have been found dead.
Loyd Dejohn is now facing a felony charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf in Macomb County District Court where his bond was raised to $1 million, Thursday afternoon.
Dejohn was arrested last week on a domestic violence charge after he allegedly admitted to police he got into a fight with 51-year-old Kimberly Dejohn at their home on Sherwood Ave., near 8 Mile Road, on May 14.
She was never seen alive after that, and was reported missing by her sister on May 28.
According to Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green, state police were following up on a tip when, Wednesday afternoon, they discovered the body of a white female buried in a shallow grave outside a foreclosed home in Koehler Township. That's in Cheboygan County, in Michigan's northern lower peninsula.
Green said investigators have been going over evidence removed from the couple's home.
An official identification and autopsy results are pending.
An public defender will be assigned to represent Loyd Dejohn after he told the judge Thursday that he can't afford to hire an attorney.
He will be back in court for a preliminary examination on Thursday, July 3.
