Warren Man Arrested For Impersonating An FBI Agent, Scamming Victims Out Of Money

WARREN (WWJ) -- A metro Detroit man has been arrested after he allegedly impersonated an FBI agent looking to scam people out of money.

Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Division of the FBI David P. Gelios said that Kevin Ladon Balfour, 62, was taken into custody on Friday for knowingly and intentionally impersonated an FBI agent.

In 2010, Balfour was arrested for the exact same crime by FBI agents. He carried a gun and an FBI Badge and would tell his victims that he could make their traffic tickets -- in addition to other legal matters -- go away for a fee.

Balfour, who has a lengthy criminal history, pled guilty, was sentenced to three years in federal prison and was released in 2013. Shortly thereafter, the FBI received information that Balfour had once again been posing as an FBI agent, carrying a firearm and using that identity to defraud people.

Balfour will face another hearing on July 18.

Anyone with information about other potential victims or scams that Balfour may be responsible for are asked to call the FBI Macomb County Resident Agency at 586-412-4844.
