Wide receiver Golden Tate, tight end Brandon Pettigrew and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata did not practice for the Lions Wednesday, although all three played in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Pettigrew was injured during play Sunday and had to be helped off the field. The Lions' official injury report listed Pettigrew with a hamstring injury. It also said that Ngata's injury was to his shoulder, and Tate's to his quad.
Coming as an unfortunate non-surprise to Lions fans, DeAndre Levy also did not practice Wednesday, and hasn't for three weeks. He did not play against San Diego and has been dealing with an undisclosed hip injury. Head coach Jim Caldwell has declined to comment on the extent of Levy's injury, or if it's a long-term concern.
Larry Warford and Caraun Reid both participated in the open portion of the Lions' Wednesday practice, but were still listed as "limited" participants for the full practice. Both have been dealing with high ankle sprains they suffered in the preseason, but have been expected to return soon. Last week, they worked off to the side with trainers, running shuttle drills and sprints.
Cornerback Darius Slay, who injured his ankle during the Chargers game, started out as a participant during Wednesday's individual drills, but left the field before practice ended, helmet in hand. He was officially listed in Wednesday's practice report as a "limited" participant.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford participated fully on Wednesday, according to the injury report. During the open portion of practice, he was still wearing the sleeve on his right arm that he finished Sunday's game in. He took a hard blindside hit against San Diego, and later said he got hit in the triceps/elbow area on that play.
When asked about his injury, Stafford said he wasn't going to detail the extent of what happened this weekend.
"I feel good," he said. "I'm ready to go."
